Many manufactured products that require corrosion protection and good electrical properties are often tin electro-plated. The Electric Materials Company (TEMCO) offers rack plating for parts up to 45” wide and barrel plating for smaller parts with higher volumes. Although tin is not as conductive as silver,
it does offer a more economical choice for plating. Tin is very soft and malleable and is not prone to cracking. For soldering applications tin protects the base metal from oxidizing allowing for an active soldering surface.
