Electroplating is a very important part of a capabilities list which also includes commutator manufacture and repair, AC rotor manufacture, casting, extruding, forging, machining, welding, brazing, heat treating, and more.
The Electroplating Process
Electric Materials' electroplating process involves producing a specified surface coating by deposition of either silver or tin on the surface of a product using the action of electric current. To obtain optimum electroplating results, a low voltage direct current is used and various agents are added to the electroplating bath and are monitored and controlled to ensure a smooth bright deposit.
Products can either be barrel plated or rack plated depending upon product size, weight and surface finish required. Typically most products are rack plated which ensures a smooth surface finish and minimizes surface blemishes. Plating conforms to ASTM B-571 and upon completion of the process samples are evaluated using the Beta Backscatter Method for compliance to customer specifications.
